The BibleCode Sundays :Refreshing!
Melodic, Alternative, London Pub Rock and Totally Irish!
It is a lazy Sunday. I want to make a bit of noise. And I want to represent this band. The BibleCode Sundays:Ah, great sound, beautiful album and interesting members.
Ghost Of Our Pasts is an album of party vibes in an Irish sense-they are composed both of English and Irish members. From the first track Dockside Lullabies up to the last track McBratney From The Kitchen, you will be guaranteed of the fun this lads will bring into your living room with your speakers tuned to a high volume.
There are jigs interlaced with alternative rock guitars and vocals sounding like a cross between Chris Isaak and Tony Hadley(of Spandau Ballet). If you are into 80′s and 90′s Alternative Rock and appreciate Irish music in between then this will make your Sundays.
Dockside Lullabies
Lyrics by Ronan MacManus
I hear you knocking but you can’t come in
Don’t tell ‘em where you live you gotta shed your skin
Liverpool echoes to the sound of drums
& if you wanna work then don’t sing your songs
Dockside lullabies (too ra loo ra)
Dockside lullabies (too ra loo ra)
Dockside lullabies (too ra loo ra)
Dockside lullabies in my head
Walking down the dockside you could be walking through the Bogside
Change your name, play the game, don’t get on the wrong side
Liverpool echoes to the sound of drums
You’re staring down the barrel of a Thompson Gun
Dockside lullabies (too ra loo ra)
Dockside lullabies (too ra loo ra)
Dockside lullabies (too ra loo ra)
Dockside lullabies in my head
Liverpool echoes to the sound of drums
Keep your face hidden when the boss man comes
Dockside lullabies (too ra loo ra)
Dockside lullabies (too ra loo ra)
Dockside lullabies (too ra loo ra)
Dockside lullabies in my head
Dockside lullabies (too ra loo ra)
Dockside lullabies (too ra loo ra)
Dockside lullabies (too ra loo ra)

This Is My Home: Dave Rooney
Dublin’s Temple Bar performer is currently on tour in the United States promoting his album This is My Home.
Be sure to visit Dublin’s Temple Bar when you drop by because I am sure you will hear this distinctive voice playing nightly. Dave Rooney has a voice that can calm an angry soul and inspire tired hearts to hope and love.
The first time I heard the title track ‘This is My Home’ I am carried away by his bold lyricism and his decision to take the high road-that’s going independently , not waiting for some money-eyed record exec to pick his songs up for commercial release. Instrumentally, this album is rich. Backed by seasoned musicians of excellent caliber, the tracks shimmer. You can hear the dobro, fiddle, whistles piano and keyboards, saxophones bass guitars and drums arranged with excellent taste. The album has energetic tracks but are balanced with introspective ones for those who just want to chill out. If you like Chris de Burg, Luka Bloom, Christy Moore and the likes, then this one’s for you.
Dave’s music has soul and wisdom. Coupled with wit he creates an album that’s solid and artfully crafted. Hear him out and I am sure you will never forget him.

Emma Kate Tobia: Meet Ireland’s Angelic Soprano
The album comes with surprises that will charm both Classical and Traditional fans from all over the world.
The first time I received this CD Aisling na nGael I was thinking that it’s one of those over the top vocal renderings. I do own a lot of classical records but they have their own time and usually when I listen to music , it has to suit my mood.
This one comes as a great surprise. Her voice can move from purely sean nos into really lyrical soprano. There is not only purity in the way she delivers these traditional pieces but there is also nuance and wonder. The orchestral arrangement is also excellent. The choir and the ambiance add to what is already good about this album.
About this album:
The CD, co-produced by Frank Buckley, Niall “Herbie” Macken and Emma Kate, was recorded in St Multose Church in Kinsale and the lofty acoustics fit perfectly with Buckley’s arrangements.
“Aisling na nGael introduces traditional Irish Songs to the world as rich orchestral and choral masterpieces,” says Emma-Kate.
You may want to buy into that.
Aisling na nGael (An Irish Dream) brings together 12 songs (Eanach Cuain, An Mhaighdean Mhara, An Droimeann Donn Dílis, Fill, Fill, a Rún Ó and Carrigdhoun, among others) sung normally unaccompanied in a setting that does the lyrics justice and brings out the natural poetry of the Irish language. Three songs (Deus Meus, Ag Críost an Síol and Óró ’s é do Bheatha ’Bhaile) feature The City of Cork Male Voice Choir and The Chorus of Opera Cork.(Info fromhttp://www.emmakatetobia.com)
