Ballykissangel Plus the Amazing Blue Harper

It looks like this blog has taken a detour lately as we feature more and more heartwarming TV series. I don’t really watch television but I will make an exception to Irish-themed ones. They are always excellent. Nothing beats Irish humor. It is like a kick on the stomach. Remember Granny O’Grimm? I thank Christi for introducing me to this show. There will be more to come 🙂

An amazing talent has piqued my interest lately. This is no other than Athy Blueharper from  Buenos Aires, Argentina. His style is a combination of funk and jazzy type. He has an air of a prankster bard but he is a serious composer performer.  I will be doing an email interview with him soon so watch out for that one.

My friend Bray from South Carolina recorded me an album by Ceredwen called  O’r Mabinogi. Ceredwen is from Wales. I have seen the CDs being sold at Glorieta Manila when I was still there. too bad, the next payday when I came back they’re out of stock. I lamented with this fact for years until I met someone who is kind enough to share it with me. I love Ceredwen’s fresh take on Welsh Celtic music with their mix of electronic loops and acoustic instruments, creating a sonic collage drenched in images and ethereal vocals. Thanks Bray. Down below is the video showcasing Ceredwen’s music. Listen and enjoy!

Celtic Thunder Making Another Rumble in the Music World

banner2

Celtic Thunder has been making rumbling noises around the word with their ensemble. There are five guys in the group consisting Paul Byrom ,George Donaldson, Keith Harkin, Ryan Kelly and Damian McGinty (who is the youngest). Fans of Celtic Women would know what to expect in this show.

Some of the songs are pop tunes arranged  in a way accessible to fans of Celtic music. Orchestra and traditional instruments are present. The singers do play their own instruments occasionally. We know Celtic music sells and kudos to the people involved with this show for bringing us Celtic music made fresh.
