Sarah McLachlan’s New Album and More Bands.

Update! Sarah McLachlan’s new album will be launched in June 15 2010 . She ‘s one of those artists who take years to release a follow-up album. I am sure fans will be delighted with this news. I find the cover totally amazing. I am sure the tracks are heavenly, as can be expected from this singer who possesses one of the most beautiful voices in the world. The new single is “Loving you is Easy” which you can download from Itunes. Although Sarah’s music is not really Celtic, she does have a voice easily loved by Celtic music fans.

Cape Breton based band The Cottars has just released Feast. This is a huge relief from the uncertainty fans have after years of almost no update from the band.  The foursome of Bruce, Ciaran, Claire and Fiona will surely cure hungry ears with their latest release now available in record stores.

Eden’s Bridge, creating a kind of music that makes you think: this is probably how angels sigh. Melodic, layered and polished to a luminous intensity. The band merge Celtic music’s distinctive style and Christian sensibilities creating a kind of material that appeals to both secular and religious tastes. “Sparkling with beautiful musicianship, pure singing, airy melodies, and the contagious energy of Celtic instrumentation, they infuse Celtic-folk-pop with a splash of youthful vibrancy.”
— The Dallas Morning News/2006

Years ago, during the Celtic Colors International Festival, they dazzled the audience and other performers. They were very young at that time. Child stars from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.  But they took the music seriously. After all, Celtic music has always been a family affair. The Cottars have been everywhere around the world, touring and performing with other notables such as The Chieftains. Critics love them.

The music has a pop appeal but has a deceptive simplicity. Like, wait until you hear each one play an instrument. This is a kind of music you would like to play in your car ,while you drive through the sunset or after the rain. Lovers of Blue Grass music or Alison Kraus will love them. Those who are into straight ahead Celtic jigs will adore their skills. Fiona McGillivray also has a beautiful voice.

Their next tour is on June 27 at Coquitam BC. 3 headline sets (outdoors) at The Scottish Highland Games, 1299 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam. Sponsored by the Scottish Cultural Centre.

Check their official website and also visit their MySpace page though I don’t see any recent updates so far. Oh well, you can still listen to the music though
