Mac Talla Mor:Hip,Haunting and Traditional

If you want your vocalist to have a strong distinctive voice(ala Natalie Merchant), yet ethereal enough to be called Celtic, then New York based Mac Talla Mor is for you. If you want something traditional but  spliced with irresistible dance beats, music that’s hip but never loses vision then this band is for you.

Scottish pipe playing has always been Mac Talla Mor’s  focal point along with the Illana Regina’s strong vocals and classically trained piano playing. What’s more, each member can play other instruments which makes hearing them a rewarding experience. They have been coined ‘music for the masses’.

Mac Talla Mor in Gaelic means ‘great echo”. Learn more by visiting their home page and watch an uploaded video. Unfortunately there is not much resources on the web at this point. But with your support, the band will go places!

Getting to know electronic duo EL-VIRA

This is a slightly altered version of a review that I originally made in my old blog. But since my site is generating a lot of traffic, I just thought I have to add this here.Beautiful music has to be shared to the world. Thanks Loic.

EL-VIRA is a duo based in Paris and Hamburg s320x240
Germany.Loic the Frenchman(his  monicker)
is the guy behind the music. He has a lot of  artistic credit
on his belt(photography is also one of them).
The other half is a very pretty Russian vocalist by
the name of Elvira ,  a stunning soprano.Lovers of Enya and Enigma

will dig this.

Project  EL-VIRA is a refreshing alternative to
a lot of chill-out/dance music out there. .
If there are other groups that could be on the same wavelength
then you can take Delirium and Mono.El-vira’s melodies are filled with
Scandinavian melancholy and uplifting Euro dance style . It is transporting and
superbly atmospheric. The production is slick and artfully crafted.

You can take Chopin and Rimsky-Korsakov,then tie them up to Faure, add a bit of acid, stir and then shake a bit of Sarah Brightman doing some glow-sticking…and you get El-Vira.

I wish they would go places with their lovely music.Show your
support by visiting the band’s Music Site:

Loic the Frenchman

and danceable. The songs are either purely instrumental or with guest vocals. These are all carefully crafted tracks that demand radio airplay.

Why celticmusicfan loves the stuff?Well if you like ambient, trance and classical music then you would find the connection in his beat ridden atmospheric compositions.Check out his site and listen to his music here:Loic Analog Digital Shift. He also has an album out which I will tackle later.

When not composting or performing, he spends most of his time traveling and skiing. He also works part time as an actor in films and television. He cites:80s pop, New Wave Depeche Mode, New Order, The Cure, Duran Duran, Alphaville, David Bowie,Chopin, Bach, Beethoven, Vivaldi as major influences.
