I am a step late from Treecat in reporting this but folks we’re in for a good news. It is confirmed in Irish Central that the First Lady of Celtic music Moya Brennan will make waves in the United States this summer. It says here:

Good news for fans of Moya Brennan, the traditional Irish singer from Clannad – she’s been tapped to host a new PBS series on Irish music that will start shooting later this summer, according to the Sunday Tribune.“Part of the reason they approached me is that I know all of the people taking part. That’s why I feel less a presenter and more a thread running through all these musicians and their music,” said Moya, who’s currently touring the U.S. with Ashley Davis (see our “Craic” section for Mike Farragher’s review of the show.) Some pretty heavy hitters are lined up to take part in the series, among them Sinead O’Connor, Oscar winner Glen Hansardfrom the film “Once,” and the Chieftains. Who knows, maybe even Moya’s reclusive sister, the multi-million selling artist Enya, will also make an appearance . . .

I am so excited about this. My heart is beating fast…

Songs for the Broken Hearted

For those who are in love and got slighted, I would suggest Heart of the Celts(Narada Records).I am not promising remedy here…the songs might aggravate the pain. The songs in this album will linger with you for a long time. Just goes to show that when it comes to love and heartbreak., the old and the new seems to unite.

Here’s one from Clannad(not included in the album)

Almost seems(Too late to turn)

Though I care a lot,
You don’t believe it’s true, do you?
So, the answer’s not given before you start to try.

Almost seems to late to turn,
What to do if I’m to learn?
Almost seems to late to turn to you.

I saw the sad decline,
a rift become a storm.
Stayed so cold last night,
This lonely heart inside me says:

Almost seems to late to turn,
What to do if I’m to learn?
Almost seems to late to turn to you.

(Breakdown)

Almost seems to late to turn,
What to do if I’m to learn?
Almost seems to late to turn to you.

Now, the anger’s gone,
It leaves behind the pain again.
Where did we go wrong?
Let go my shadow, pass me by.

Almost seems to late to turn,
What to do if I’m to learn?
Almost seems to late to turn to you.

(Instrumental to End)

A New book about Clannad

Clannad the early years

Clannad the early years

Have you seen this already? The New Clannad Book

the discription reads:

A new book detailing the life and career of Clannad in pictures and words.

It is often wisely quoted that, to truly understand the meaning of the present, one needs to reflect upon the past. This adage proves most appropriate when exploring the traditional heritage and subsequent career of the international award-winning musical group Clannad. On this journey we see the family ascend from their Tory Island roots through the rolling Donegal countryside to the majesty of the world stage. While they soar towards success, we will follow the versatile clan as they appear on television screens, major motion pictures and ultimately the Grammy podium. As the fairy tale story of Clannad unfolds through photographs and history it becomes evident why they are proudly proclaimed Ireland‘s most successful international ambassadors of the Gaelic language.

Loreena McKennitt forced to cancel festival appearance in Fez, Morocco

A family emergency has forced Canadian Celtic superstar Loreena McKennitt from performing in a festival in Morocco.

Quinlan Road says:

Loreena McKennitt has been forced to cancel the opening concert of her upcoming Mediterranean tour.

She will be unable to participate in the Festival of World Sacred Music in Fez, Morocco; she was due to perform there next Saturday, June 6.

“I’m facing a grave family emergency and being away from home at this time is not an option,” the Stratford, Ontario-based singer said.  “It is most difficult to make this unprecedented decision to cancel a concert so close to its date”

”It’s my greatest hope that I will be able to play this prestigious festival — I’ve been aware of it for so many years — in the future.”

A Mummer’s Dance Through Ireland is the singer’s latest album which is a compilation of her Irish themed songs.

For more information, please visit: Quinlan Road her official website.

Well I just hope her family would recover soon.My best wishes to her and her band.
