Tri Yann released the new album Rummadoù (Générations) late last year. You can listen to sample tracks here:http://edoll.free.fr/tyrummadou.wav . I like them a lot. They like to wear outrageous costumes in their concerts and they are very influential in their native Brittany. A new DVD Le concert des 40 ans(Live CD & DVD) is out which also mark the highlights in their career. There are English tracks in the album along with French and Breton. Here are the tracks in CD:

Cecile Corbel on tour!
Do you ever get this impulse of being stuck in one song and finding your self playing it again and again? I know it isn’t what normal people do because what happens is when a song ends you move to the next track. Today, I found myself getting stuck in this one song by Breton musician Cecile Corbel. The song is called Mary and there is this stanza that goes:
Mary was a sailor
But she is drowned to die
She sleeps under the sea
Mary ever on her way
Kind of morbid don’t you think? But the music of Brittany has always been steeped in stories of seafarers. This song made me go to her website and I saw her new video called Sweet Amaryllis taken from the new album Songbook 3. I am impressed by her knack for powerful melodies and tight vocal harmonies. This is a kind of music that artists like Moya Brennan and fellow Breton Nolwenn Leroy make. Very catchy and haunting at the same time. Need I say that her videos are always appealing ? She is on tour right now and more can be found in http://www.cecile-corbel.com
The bombarde is a loud and intoxicating instrument. In a hands of an expert it becomes addictive. Note the kid in this video…he was covering his ears! Just to cite and example of these really loud Celtic instruments.
Description:
Playing an An Dro with one bombarde and one set of Scottish bagpipes to demonstrate how a standard duet works, with guest star Breton bombarde tutor Gwenael Lamour from Bagad Kemper, visiting New Zealand.
I am in a middle of a very busy week. I seldom have a chance to eat at work because I would be thinking what to do next. When you train more than 23 people by batch there are also things you consider while being in front( at least for me). Is my voice pleasant and is the room acoustics making a good job at it? Did I powder my bad head so hat it doesn’t show a shine from the ceiling lamps? Am I making sure I am animated enough and so on and so forth. I usually write this blogs hours or after my work. But not without a cup of warm tea.

Celebrate St. David’s Day with a great set of Celtic Music
Pipe players of Brittany on Sunday united against a group of US-based white supremacists who are campaigning to discredit the French region’s top piper, who happens to be a black man.. I hate this. The fact that Celtic Music is supposed to be Universal; for this to happen is outrageous. From Scotland’s outer islands and Ireland’s west, the folk duo Men of Worth brings the real music of their regions with tunes and songs that were authentic to the fabric of everyday life a century ago.
The hardest working artist in Ireland is finally getting his due….
Some of you might ask who Fiach Moriarty is. But for those who are acquainted to the Dublin music scene, Fiach has been known as the hardest working artist in Ireland. He has been in a lot of TV shows and live performances. Also one thing to note is that last year he came first in the annual Celtic Language Contest in Inverness Scotland. So how’s that for a 27-year -old used to be under- the- radar singer? The Irish Times calls his album So I a debut album of depth and courage, guile and wit. I stumbled upon him the first time in YouTube and that’s it. His charisma is undeniably powerful and there is so much positivity in his songs that you can’t help but be uplifted.
This is an interesting performance of a song sang in Gaelic, a love song called Sea Taim at minority language song contest Liet International 2009. Sea Taim is about a young lad who is down and out – and drunk – after his girlfriend left him.
