Ok guys. Those living in the are are fortunate to watch this gathering of all Celtic musicians from all over the globe to celebrate the vibrant spirit of  traditional music. Cole Imperi sent me an email to spread the news and so this is what I am doing right now. Another public service 🙂

Hi Baxter-

I wanted to let you know about a new  Celtic music focused group here in Cincinnati. They also are getting exclusive interviews with Celtic musicians (up on their website) and I thought you and your readers would be interested. You have such a great blog–I wanted to pass along the release and let you know you can do whatever you want with it!
If you feel as though it’s appropriate–please share this info!
My thanks,

Poland’s Banshee Celtic Band

Polish band created a stir in the Celtic scene with their eclectic blend of Folk, Rock, Jazz and World styles.

The purpose of this site is to discover beautiful acts , to realize that we are all related and to stretch the limits of how music is perceived. It is always a delight to find such music all over the world. It is great, especially when that music calls to mind the beauty of nature, the myths and musical arrangement. These things make Celtic music so diverse. I am so excited over this band! Listen to Banshee Celtic Band via MySpace :http://www.myspace.com/bandbanshee

The Pride of County Cork: North Cregg

It pleases me to know if a band has a female vocalist. And when that vocalist sounds like her throat is fashioned after an angel’s wings , then it becomes an obsession for me. Not since Capercaillie has a band been so tight , so sure and so haunting. So much of Ireland’s ancient spirit inhabits this band from Country Cork. Go Your Way has that gradual marching tempo that resonates with beaty amidst this heartbreaking piece. In contrast, Crehan’s Reels is infectious capturing the atmosphere of taverns and the merry folks having a toast and dancing .

I have been bewitched!

Athas from Milwaukee

Athas is a four-piece band that hails from Milwaukee . Composed of Heather Lewin-Tiarks: fiddle, viola Kathleen Bremer: flute, vocals Amy Richter: bodhran, percussion Jeff Ksiazek: guitar, bouzouki, flute, the band executes vibrant playing and fresh approach to traditional tracks. Their myspace page mentions the band to be composed of  four individuals but this video shows only three members. Anyway if you are curious, you can check their tour schedules right of their MySpace, listen to music or watch videos. They will be in Country Clare this 17th just in time for St. Paddy’s Day.

The Legendary Altan Celebrates 25 Years of Music

Unlike rock and pop bands, Celtic musicians stick around for a long time. The music is timeless and its not about attitude or fame. It’s about the love of music and the dedication to a tradition that spans thousands and thousands of years. Although the label “celtic music” only started around more than 30 years ago, it’s connection to the ancient spirit of Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Brittany, Isle of Man, Gallicia , Cornwall and the rest of the places heavy with Celtic diaspora is undeniable.

I can attest to that being here from the Philippines and I was not spared by its power.

Altan, a band from Donegal Ireland celebrates 25 years of music. I am still sad because I really remember Frankie Kennedy who passed away . He was a big part of Altan. I am glad the band still continues to challenge, bewitch and bring us nothing but good ol’ Irish music. They are on tour and has released a live album with RTE Concert Orchestra
