Inni-K: Gentle star..rising star.

Wow. I mean wow look at how artfully created this video is. Seeing someone sing so flawlessly while keeping the pizzicato rhythm of her violin is not what you usually see even among traditional singers. This is just the initial indication what Inni-K is capable of achieving in her forthcoming album this year.

This native of  Co. Kildare, who now lives in An Daingean, Co. Kerry has worked with musicians such as Luka Bloom, Liam Ó Maonlaí and many more. Her listeners range from indie supporters to Celtic music fanatics. She has a beautiful voice-both a combination of strength and vulnerability. I will certainly watch out for her upcoming projects from now on.

Something to make you boogie with your kilt!

Kitus are a French group  based in Lyon France composed of  Yannick Guyader (diatonic accordion), Sylvain Vuidart (flute, wood and metal), Luke Roche (violin) and Fabien Guiloineau (acoustic guitar, bouzouki).  They play a brand of jazz influenced Celtic music combined with waltzes, mazurkas and even Latin rhythms. The album called “Après l’After” was released in 2009. One of their notable performances was in Gannat Cabaret Festival in 2011. Kepa Junkera : Definitive music of the Basque country.

I love the music of Kepa Junkera and how it drives your senses into a wild abandon. The music has a primal but beautiful appeal. I can’t describe the feeling I have when I first heard the song Bok Espok. But I think the closest thing I can come up with is that feeling upon seeing a cornucopia exploding  with deep colored fruits, juices oozing in irresistible sweetness .  From 1988 to the present, he already recorded 10 albums.

What’s Up with Shelta?

Shelta is a language spoken by the Irish travelers -also  known as Irish gypsies. It is also a name of  a Celtic band based in Rhône-Alpes. Ten years and still going strong, they have played gigs all over Europe. Their next gig is on Friday, June 22 at 9:00 PM. The place is La Lune Rousse. You can see the full tour schedule in this page.

Attention: Hypnotic Harp Music Ahead!

Have you heard of a harp music that makes tap your feet the way you do with a bodhran? If not then I recommend you listen to Rachel Hair. Her style  is exciting and the vibrancy of her music rubs on you like expensive perfume-it lasts.

She is aware that the soul of Celtic music is not just playing with speed and ease. It is also about atmosphere. It is perfected  in the track Cancro Cru where the melody pulls you inside. I think the voice layering is artfully crafted. Jenn has the voice of an angel. The varied artistry of the tracks are also due to the contribution of band members Jenn Butterworth alongside top Scottish double bassist Euan Burton.
