If I remember(trying not to be mean now) they let the little girl do a re tape of her performance because she forgot the lyrics to the song. Now remember folks she’s just 10 years old. With a lot of years on her belt to make up for it. Susan Boyle is 48. This is her last shot. And it’s well earned. How could they do this?I think Britain’s Got Talent is something not to be taken seriously.

Looking back:The Release of Enya’s And Winter Came
It’s June. Months after I got Enya‘s And Winter Came .I remember walking into the store in the first week of December.
“Sorry Sir we don’t have it” The sales person told me in an apologetic voice .Must be my shocked and outraged expression. No folks, I am not going to thrash your department store just because there is no latest album by Enya.
“Whhhaaaaaatttt? You don’t have it?One of the biggest selling artist in the world and you don’t have it?What’s going on with Warner.”Suddenly several people looked my way.I smiled back reassuring them that I am not going to go crazy.
The next week I was back. The same person pointed me to the shelf containing around 10 CDs. She looked so happy and relieved. And I was jumping up and down.Several people looked at my direction again. I smiled back.I asked her to play the whole album in full blast. As always I still play it though winter is over…and we will never have winters in the Philippines anyway.

Yesterday I wrote a review about Traditional Irish music’s rising star Jenny Mulvey. Well, I got a response in my liveireland.com account and I could say I am tickled pink.

This is really a defining moment why I really want to devote my life to Irish music. Everything is just beautiful and everyone’s a family in this community. I never really find it hard to make friends with the Irish. Maybe because we share a common history…us Filipinos under the rule of Spain., The Irish under British rule. We experienced what it’s like to be oppressed and to be subjected to something that we have to do because we have no choice. But the Irish had it harder. They were forced to give up their Gaelic language because they were made to believe that speaking Gaelic is associated with poverty and being not educated.
Reading about Ireland’s history gave me a sense of direction. It’s like uncovering a treasure box tucked somewhere in the attic. Opening it up opened my mind to something that’s telling me there is no going back. I share the same passion with my American friend Brandon. He knows how to speak Gaelic and he’s from South Carolina .He also loves everything Irish(he even owns a bodhran and tin whistle). I think Brandon also cemented my love for what I do and what I listen to.
Yes this world can be a harsh place but magic still lives in all the right places. All you have to do is find them. And you cannot find them with all the noise. You have to be really quiet and trusting. Because like you, it needs assurance.

Clannad’s Fuaim for a rainy day
There’s rain outside and I am listening to Fuiam(pronounced as Foom).Fuiam in English means’ Sound“.Prior to their more commercial albums, this one is like a transition period for the band. Enya also appears as contributing musician and singer. She also has a duet with lead sister Moya Brennan on An tÚll .I love the arrangements. It has this organic freshness to it that makes it an appropriate soundtrack for rain.I have a friend in Manila who is a fan of Clannad who knows another friend who is also a fan.Yes it takes people of the same persuasions…..Ciaran Brennan makes a vocal appearance on the second track: “Mheall Sí Lena Glórthaí Mé”

My plan of watching Angels and Demons is once again thwarted by the rain. My friends keep telling me that Ewan MacGregor as Camerlengo Patrick McKenna is awesome. Now I tried to look for the meaning of Camerlengo and it means Papal Chamberlain.
Something about Norway
I haven’t tried logging into MIRC for a long time. If you look back to the early days of the Internet , this is the only form of communication locally that’s very popular. But of course these days there are too many.My friend uses SKYPE, I use MSN and Yahoo Messenger, and my other pals are into Twitter. The reason why I have to get back to MIRC is that it is easy to talk to people locally. There’s Bacolod,Silay,Pinoy Chat,Cebu etc.And yeah some weird greetings getting there.
Message of the Day, Trondheim.NO.EU.Undernet.org
Hello there stranger, yup, you guessed it!
– We’re from Norway 🙂
–
– Interesting facts about Norway for you foreigners:
–
– Norway is a constitutional monarchy. Its population is
– 4.681.100 (2007), giving a population density of 12
– per km^2. The capital city of Oslo has 548.000
– inhabitants.
–
– Including Svalbard and Jan Mayen, Norwegian territory
– covers 386,958 square kilometers. The mainland is long
– – 1752 km from the southern to the northernmost tip.
– The coastline itself is 2650 km long, if you were to
– include the length of all the fingers of the fjords it
– would be 10 times longer.
–
– Every day more than 2.1 million of those use the
– Internet and you may very well be chatting with a
– Norwegian right now.
–
Just to note, the duo Secret Garden is half Norwegian and Half Irish. There is always a sense of bright melancholy in Norwegian tunes as opposed to the misty melancholy in Irish music. The thing they call Scandinavian sadness.I don’t know, it’s hard to describe but if you want to know about it, just check the pattern of chords and you’ll know what I mean.
How to make your own Celtic band
You don’t have to be geographically related to Ireland or Scotland to make your own band that plays beautiful music. All you need is the passion to do it. So these are my 10 on the list.
1.Make sure you are a musician and you know how to play any Celtic instruments or sing.
2.Make sure you know a lot of about Celtic music. So listen, buy records and get acquainted with people who play Celtic music. The best source of this would have to be www.liveireland.com.Just in case you live away in a foreign country and has so little resources to get your records on line.If you don’t know one yet,I’d suggest you consult my older posts especially Articles from the Web for helpful links.
3.Participate in forums related to Irish ,Scottish and Welsh music discussion. Read books related to the music and culture.Do your research in Irish ,Scottish, Welsh or any history related to countries of origin.
4.Learning the language is not really a prerequisite. There are artists on the same category who never even sang a single song in Gaelic so you are in luck! But still…you have to understand that Gaelic is a beautiful language and singing in it is sublime.
5.Court the audience that will love your music. Go out there and perform but make sure you do it with the right people. But then again you’d be surprise that people will really love what you are doing. Don’t underestimate people these days. They want to hear something fresh, something new.
