Taking a break

My wooden recorder

I am spending the rest of the day promoting my blog.I will resume posting tomorrow. This is a challenge because it is like having a band and you are doing your first gig. You don’t know what to expect. You want people to listen to your music but unsure if they will like it.Anyway ,I’m doing this through :

  1. Leaving comments on other blogs.
  2. Participating in blog forums or any other forums. Our moderator in the Enya forum Treecat has already helped me on this. My friend Loic from France also posted a link to my site.
  3. Having a twitter account
  4. Doing more research on how to improve my writing.
  5. Getting more ideas from around the world.
  6. Being passionate.

Here is also a link that might help if you are also trying to improve your blog:

Getting to know electronic duo EL-VIRA

This is a slightly altered version of a review that I originally made in my old blog. But since my site is generating a lot of traffic, I just thought I have to add this here.Beautiful music has to be shared to the world. Thanks Loic.

EL-VIRA is a duo based in Paris and Hamburg s320x240
Germany.Loic the Frenchman(his  monicker)
is the guy behind the music. He has a lot of  artistic credit
on his belt(photography is also one of them).
The other half is a very pretty Russian vocalist by
the name of Elvira ,  a stunning soprano.Lovers of Enya and Enigma

will dig this.

Project  EL-VIRA is a refreshing alternative to
a lot of chill-out/dance music out there. .
If there are other groups that could be on the same wavelength
then you can take Delirium and Mono.El-vira’s melodies are filled with
Scandinavian melancholy and uplifting Euro dance style . It is transporting and
superbly atmospheric. The production is slick and artfully crafted.

You can take Chopin and Rimsky-Korsakov,then tie them up to Faure, add a bit of acid, stir and then shake a bit of Sarah Brightman doing some glow-sticking…and you get El-Vira.

I wish they would go places with their lovely music.Show your
support by visiting the band’s Music Site:

Stephen O’Connor and the Uilleann Pipes

Stephen O'Connor with his Uilleann Pipes.

I have been haunted by the sound of the Uilleann Pipes ever since.I  I really wanted to do a tribute to it .I am glad to finally know someone in the Internet by the name of Stephen O’Connor who plays it like no other.  I sent Stephen  a message asking him if I can feature a video of him playing this wonderful instrument at home. I got captivated by this video and I think this is the best example of how such instrument can deliver more even without an accompaniment. He got back to me with a pleased answer.Stephen started playing this Irish traditional instrument at an early age  and taught by Ireland’s best musicians.

His resume includes:

Dublin‘s well known Templebar

Oliver St. John Gogarty’s,

presenting live radio show LiveIreland

Touring with Gaelforce Dance(he visited Czech Republic, Poland, Russia, Latvia and Lithuania) Dance Masters and Rhythms Of Ireland

Loreena McKennitt forced to cancel festival appearance in Fez, Morocco

A family emergency has forced Canadian Celtic superstar Loreena McKennitt from performing in a festival in Morocco.

Quinlan Road says:

Loreena McKennitt has been forced to cancel the opening concert of her upcoming Mediterranean tour.

She will be unable to participate in the Festival of World Sacred Music in Fez, Morocco; she was due to perform there next Saturday, June 6.

“I’m facing a grave family emergency and being away from home at this time is not an option,” the Stratford, Ontario-based singer said.  “It is most difficult to make this unprecedented decision to cancel a concert so close to its date”

”It’s my greatest hope that I will be able to play this prestigious festival — I’ve been aware of it for so many years — in the future.”

A Mummer’s Dance Through Ireland is the singer’s latest album which is a compilation of her Irish themed songs.

For more information, please visit: Quinlan Road her official website.

Well I just hope her family would recover soon.My best wishes to her and her band.

Loic the Frenchman

Loic the Frenchman is based on both Hamburg and Paris. His stuff is very melodic

Loic the Frenchman

and danceable. The songs are either purely instrumental or with guest vocals. These are all carefully crafted tracks that demand radio airplay.

Why celticmusicfan loves the stuff?Well if you like ambient, trance and classical music then you would find the connection in his beat ridden atmospheric compositions.Check out his site and listen to his music here:Loic Analog Digital Shift. He also has an album out which I will tackle later.

When not composting or performing, he spends most of his time traveling and skiing. He also works part time as an actor in films and television. He cites:80s pop, New Wave Depeche Mode, New Order, The Cure, Duran Duran, Alphaville, David Bowie,Chopin, Bach, Beethoven, Vivaldi as major influences.
