The Spanish relationship to Celtic Music

As I have always thought and felt that Celtic music is universal. There is an interesting article here.It talks about :THE “NEW” SPANISH FOLK MUSIC: THE CELTIC MUSIC BOOM.I encourage you to read , to know more about the range of Celtic music. It will also inspire whatever Celtic movement you have going on, be it in a band, art,or even writing. I personally feel that this little blog will serve a s a unifying medium.

Murder She Wrote:The Celtic Riddle

Angela_Lansbury_wideweb__430x391  There’s this haunting song in the Murder She Wrote tele-movie that’s never been revealed.Stanlety Clarke has been responsible for all the series music. The lady’s voice sounds like Eimear Quinn but you could be wrong.I have been watching the series as a kid and Angela Lansbury is a  house hold name.I wish someone would come up with the answer to the question: Who performed the opening theme for Murder She Wrote: The Celtic Circle.

Máire, the debut album of Moya Brennan

Today I want to review Moya Brennan’s Maire…her first solo album out of 200px-MoyaBrennan_MaireClannad. Released in 1992, the album celebrates the Irish tradition in a fresh approach. Abundance of percussion,  electric guitars and vocal layerings embellish this release under Atlantic Records.

I just love the way Moya sings each slow tracks as if she is whispering. There is nuance and at the same time up front delivery. Tracks like “Cé Leis” and “Jealous Heart” promise heart hearting beauty. While “Atlantic Shore” is update, rock driven; well suited to the age of Grunge without being ‘Rock and Roll”.

  Musicians are :

Producer: Calwn Malcolm and Donal Lunny.vbrennan3

Ginevra-Czech band that plays Celtic tunes.

Dginevra1  If you haven’t heard of Ginevra‘s Bida yet, then you might want to check the band out. At first I thought it’s Cornish, then I was wrong. It’s in Czech! Further research lead me to their official You Tube channel. They’re funny, melodic and totally talented.

Members are into theatrics and customs are very important in live performance. The Czech Republic is filled with wonderful musicians and the band Ginevra is one of them.  Unfortunately there aren’t not enough resources for me in the Internet .The only sites that are helpful are their official Ginevra Music and this Catalog site.
