Startijenn: Leading the Wave Of Young Breton Musicians

We will be focusing on Breton music most of this week. I visited Dom Duff‘s website from time to time and I asked him to be my next guest on my interview . I did feature the music of Brittany on my previous thread . Right now let us give the spotlight to a band called Startijenn. Most of  what you need to know about the band can be found in their official myspace music page. You can also visit the Trad. It! section to read more in English. The Official website has a lot to give. However it’s in French and Breton. I wish one day it will have an English/multi-lingual  translation available soon like what happened with Loreena McKennitt’s Quinlan Road website.startijennG

The first time I heard the music I was captivated. They resemble a bit to their Irish cousins Kila but this one has that distinctive Breton sound that can also be heard on Dan Ar Braz and Denez Prigent. They are young, great looking and they bring something to the mix that isn’t available in others.

For more information please visit the sites I posted to get more information about tour dates, news as well as new music.

Listen up Enya fans! The new The Best of Enya album is on the way. It has been confirmed by Aigle and the tracks are chosen by the trio, Enya, Nicky and Roma. There will also be a special edition which will contain a DVD and documentary footage. What do I expect? Nothing less from the trio who crafted wonderful albums that remain mesmerizing up to this day. I am so excited about the documentary too. I hope it will feature the working process in the studio and also an information about the trio and their continued collaboration up to now which has remain unbroken.

This has been reported by enyabookofdays.com

Special thanks to Lee for the Enya updates on the main site.

Frankly I am glad that there’s something going on with Connie Dover and the Chieftains. I think for people who haven’t heard miss Dover sang they should hear it. She has the purest emotional voice around. As for the Chieftains, well these guys introduced me to the who Celtic genre.

Máiréad Nesbitt Plays Violin Solo in New Tinkerbell Movie

I browsed through the  Máiréad Nesbitt Official Website only to discover that she plays the Celtic violin solo in Tinkerbell and The Lost Treasure. She teams up with fellow Celtic Woman Lisa Kelly in the title song If You Believe. I think this is an excellent news and is worth watching ! Check out the link for the complete information.

And now, for something not totally musical.

I was surprised to learn today that Andrea Corr has finally jumped. Not because she got scared. A detailed info about her wedding to a stockbroker fiance can be found here. Thanks to my friends at Unity: The Official Enya forum for bringing this up.
