Yesterday, I had a chat with good friend Dee McIlroy(owner of McIlroy Guitars) and he talked about Bene (Benedict) Morris, who just won BBC Scotland young trad musician of the year. He and Cormac Crummy released a wonderful album last year. So I listened to their tunes and was captivated right away! Their talents shine like well polished musical instruments, so crystalline you can see your own reflection and more. So yes I will definitely talk to these guys and find out more about their music and what they are currently working on. More about Bene here: https://www.facebook.com/benedict.morris.14

Scottish trad is alive and well! One example is this emerging talent from Glasgow by the name of Eddie Seaman. Equally stunning players join him in this happy tune called The Fiddle Bee. Seaman credits this as ” A wee tune by Fiddle player Madeleine Stewart.”

Here’s an interesting version of Toss The Feathers by FLAUTH
Once in a while this site highlights new talents or songs that captivate the imagination. And Flauth impress us with their gentler version of Toss the Feathers. Such a lovely blend of instruments and melody.
Colours-Elma Orkestra & Ryan Vail featuring Moyà Brennan, heavenly!
Most of the time a music video is to support a particular song. But once in a while, the visuals are as stunning as the song. This is the case of Colours by Elma Orkestra & Ryan Vail featuring Moya Brennan on vocals. There is creative synergy in this effort resulting to pleasurable listening experience. The music video follows a skateboarder as he travels everywhere.
Last month, Elma Orkestra posted an announcement on their Facebook page about the project where this song is taken from:
“So excited to announce that I’ve got a brand new album called Borders and it’s coming out in June!!! Borders is a collaborative album with the outstanding Ryan Vail and the first single from it features the incredible Moya Brennan – First Lady of Celtic Music
“‘Colours’ is the first track from the album and features Moya Brennan on vocals singing in both Irish and English. It’s an expansive track that bodes well for the album” – Nialler9
