Sometimes I do my snooping around during the evening. If I am not watching tutorials on video editing or bike repair, then I am scouting for new talents. That’s how I came accross this fella from Strafford VT. Perhaps you should give him a listen and ‘like’. He has few short videos up, plus this one with Bill Sheppard. This is a raw performance. No sound editing or effects. Just the acoustics of the room and pure heavenly fun.

Like I mentioned before, I am now writing for people who are on the go, busy and with less attention tolerance. However, I will post links that are short and long for your pleasure. Oh, and I am now writing, the way I talk. So no more Grammarly editing here. Just short, informative fun.

Introducing the Exciting Music of Brother Sea

Note that when I say “exciting” in my post, I mean it in a way that stirs an emotional feeling. Brother sea has released a single that’s bound to find itself in the genre’s listening ear. The song is called September. It is slightly upbeat with that lots of exciting moments. One of them is vocal harmony. Another is the instrumentation arrangement. The third is the subject. In fact, this song is inspired by the coast of Cornwall.

Would you believe that September was recorded in a church featuring natural acoustics? It’s remarkable.

Massimo Kyo Di Nocera: Celtic, Folk, and Ambient

Massimo Kyo Di Nocera, Italian musician-composer, born the 3rd october 1974 in Castellammare di Stabia, Naples.

As a musician I grew passing through many different kind of music, starting with classical music, experimenting with electronic music, exploring a point of softness and firmness. I created a brand new musical project called Music is Love. Those are the things I gathered from his website.

According to him, “The Raven” is a new concept album with a Celtic flavor, but you’ll also find Folk songs and Ambient moments.
For me, listening to The Raven is like a journey into the subconscious where peace, abundance and gentleness exist. These are the very things that are found in our childhood. Massimo is not in a hurry with his executions here. He lets the rhythm of the subconscious take over. So, in this way, the music is not overpowering. It also doesn’t take so much of your attention. It serves more like an ambience rather than a central attraction. It is private and unintrusive.
I think this style is growing on me, especially now that I am spending more and more time meditating. Go check The Raven out. My fave track is Light in the Darkness, with its beautiful chords and melody.

I Got Something in the Mail from Canada

The Empress

Well, well, well, it’s been a while since I got excited about this musical genre. I still listen though. I still watch YouTube videos or Instagram reels related to the music. But I haven’t reviewed an album, for a while. So it was a surprise when I got something from The McDades. They are from Canada and when we think of Canada, we think about Celtic Colours and other awesome Celtic music festivals. So, when I read bits and pieces about them I was like, voila! We got something here!
The new album is called The Empress. I know this is something I will love listening to. I haven’t listened to the whole album yet, but watched their YouTube videos. I was pleased to confirm my instinct. I love their sound. If you love traditional music with no chaser then this is it. I love the packaging. I also appreciate the videos. Most of all, I love contraltos so the vocals are enjoyable. I will write something about the album in the coming days. I need a CD player because the one I am using has officially died. I will go to a friend’s house to have the songs converted into mp3 format. That way I can listen to them in my iPhone when I am riding my bike(with my Bose bluetooth speaker of course).

Irish Folks Songs in #shorts

So yeah yeah yeah I have been addicted to YouTube shorts and Instagram reels deling with Celtic music. These are great tools in spreading the art without taking so much time. Melinda caught my attention with her gentle and expressive voice. If you haven’t yet then you better follow her via YouTube. Hmmm I wonder if she has an Instagram account.

For some reason WordPress doesn’t do embedding of YouTube shorts so I am sharing a screenshot and a link to the video.
