Well, well, well, it’s been a while since I got excited about this musical genre. I still listen though. I still watch YouTube videos or Instagram reels related to the music. But I haven’t reviewed an album, for a while. So it was a surprise when I got something from The McDades. They are from Canada and when we think of Canada, we think about Celtic Colours and other awesome Celtic music festivals. So, when I read bits and pieces about them I was like, voila! We got something here!
The new album is called The Empress. I know this is something I will love listening to. I haven’t listened to the whole album yet, but watched their YouTube videos. I was pleased to confirm my instinct. I love their sound. If you love traditional music with no chaser then this is it. I love the packaging. I also appreciate the videos. Most of all, I love contraltos so the vocals are enjoyable. I will write something about the album in the coming days. I need a CD player because the one I am using has officially died. I will go to a friend’s house to have the songs converted into mp3 format. That way I can listen to them in my iPhone when I am riding my bike(with my Bose bluetooth speaker of course).
