Clockwise: Mary Black, Michael O’Dhomnaill(Keep er’Lit CD), The late Ronnie Drew of The Dubliners, Dougie MacLean and Sharon Shannon.
OMG! If there is another thing why we should hate the volcanic ash that hovered around Europe was the cancellation of major Dougie MacLean concerts. On the other hand, July will be eventful as our Scottish musical hero prepares for England and Wales. For complete guide please refer to http://www.dougiemaclean.com under tours. A new DVD Songmaker will be available soon as well.………………Apart from the cameo appearance and contributing composer in Ondine (stars Colin Farrell, directed by Neil Jordan) Sharon Shannon has something going on with the new single Shifting Summer Sands featuring the vocals of Carol Keogh. This is the forth single from the new album Saints and Scoundrels which was released in October, and will be released in the Ireland in May and in the UK in July. Visit www.myspace.com/sharonshannon for updates………………If you haven’t gotten your hands into the late Mícheál Ó Domhnaill tribute CD Keep er’Lit yet, then better grab it. His legacy has been evident in bands Skara Brae, The Bothy Band and later Nightnoise. The Celtic Music Fan will always miss his talent and what could have been.View the complete details of the CD at http://www.michealodomhnaill.com ……………….A tribute to the late Ronnie Drew of The Dubliners is available from musician Kieran O’ Brien: August 2010 sees the second anniversary of the great Ronnie Drew R.I.P. of “The Dubliners” who passed away in 2008 after a long battle with cancer. Ronnie was born in Dun Laoighre in 1934 and by all accounts lived a very happy childhood. in the 60s he teamed up Luke Kelly R.I.P. Barney McKenna and Burke to form “The Dubliners” in O’Donohues Pub In Lwr Baggot St, Dublin 2 and as they say in the classics “The rest is history”. I wrote a song and recorded it live in Melbourne, Australia in honour of the great man called “Farewell Ronnie Drew” in March 2010 and is available to download at www.CDbaby.com you can also hear a wee bit here Ronnie sample#2MP3.mp3 Hope you like it!……………………….Hello people of Dublin. You sent me scrabbling to,listen to some of the songs of Doughie MacLean! I have enjoyed the other artists over the years, but it has been a while since I’ve heard Doughie. (I’ve missed way too many episodes of Thistle and Shamrock so will have to go back to getting the podcasts again.)
Thanks for the reminder. I sure wish I could be there in Great Britain for the concerts.

Me too Christi. It’s just an accident that I got this news. Which I really enjoy because it enables me to cover so many great artists at such a short time.
